Particulars of the Project

In Udayan we have been working for sometime to promote peace and harmony through organising thematic cultural programmes and participating in them to bring people together. The objective of this Project is to highlight and popularise among the young generations the contributions of Mahatma Gandhi and Rabindranath Tagore to bring peace and harmony.

Our first priority is to organise film-shows, seminars, popular lectures, small plays etc featuring Mahatma Gandhi’s life and work. The first major event, a half-day seminar is being planned around the 2nd October, 2009, which is Gandhiji’s 140th Birth Anniversary. This will be followed by core events involving schools and other public functions over the year. You would appreciate that it is a mammoth task and we will need ideas and co-operation from all of you to make these events meaningful. It is also critically important to convey the message to the young people. We earnestly request parents and guardians to encourage their children to participate.

At this stage, we are brain storming to identify the events that we will undertake, their contents and finding the experts and the enthusiasts in and outside Udayan to make the events on Gandhiji happen. The core areas are Gandhiji's:

You will probably agree that all these issues are top priorities in today’s world, and it is useful to recapitulate and reassess the ideas, and encourage people, particularly those who are young, to know and appreciate them.

Please respond with your ideas, contacts to relevant people and organisations, and if you would like to take part actively.

Participation of and help from guardians and parents of young people will be particularly welcome.
