Bande Mataram - Hail Mother
About the Programme (Click for Programme Flyer)
August 15th,1947 marked the end of the British Raj in India and is a landmark in the history of modern India. In the first half of the evening listen to inspiring, soul-captivating Bengali patriotic songs, which stirred the nation and heralded the new, independent India. In a broader perspective, these songs transcend all national barriers to symbolise the eternal quest for freedom from bondage, fear and oppression. A projected show of visuals with English translations of the songs will accompany the live performance.
In the second half of the programme, join us in a complementary tasty Indian snacks meal to celebrate this occasion during the interval, followed by an evening of music and colour - a blend of traditional Indian instrumental music, classical and folk-dance.
